Fin-nor as Neil said going an ounce over the rating on the rod should not be a huge problem if you cast with respect. As a retailer and as a caster you see some crazy ratings on rods. Also remember that you are going to add a bait to that sinker. People should think about what is required to get the job done, adding more weight may not give you extra distance but it could get to the bottom faster and grip better, and then there's line diameter ?????
