Funny you mention quads Neil I used to have an old kawasaki KLF300 quad it was my work bike used to tie my beach spike onto the front of it with bailing twine and ride the 55Km from Te Maire beach in Dargaville along the beach to the kaipara entrace bloody big tackle box come fish bin bungee tied on the back spare fuel on the front and fishing rod slung over my shoulder with bailing twine used to catch a few nice kahawai which I used to smoke in the old oven I found in a paddock which I rescued I can not say I ever had the quad related rod breakage but damn near did run over a seal after the missus said watch out for the log ahead so I closely dodged it only to see a head pop up lol the only rod I have ever broken was a jarvis walker 12 foot surf rod casting a 3oz ball sinker at bethells beach.
