Good evening all, GK turned up at work today with his new toy . The first thing that hits your eye is the Lowrider Guides the bloody things are oval , ha you say they must have been damaged in transit, but no that's the way they have been manufactured . Now the doughters out there are going to say lowrider guides don't work or won't work , but they do.
Marks right, I also would fish with this rod.
For the stuff you want to know. First of all it casts along way and you don't need to be a great caster to achieve good distances. A simple overhead thump should achieve 150m with a clipped down rig.
The action is good , the tip to 1/3 of the rod does most of the work and the tip recovery is very good .
The guides are awesome and the blank is a bit more robust than the earlier model , it also has Japanese type shrink rap on the but section.
All in all an excellent rod for the money.
AndyG asked how it compared to a 6 and bait , well it's going to be at least half the price and your mother should be able cast it without injury. As for poor casting technique, no rod can fix that, only you can, with the help of your club mates at casting days.
PS this rod will also suit overhead reels we didn't get a chance to try one today as there was ice forming on GKs mustach.
