Without wanting to create a storm and maybe soothe the water, there are two specifics that need to be understood with regard to Distance casting. Firstly, this is a recognised International Sport that, apart from the gear, has no relevance to going fishing. To try and relate the efforts involved in achieving distances over 180m to casting rigs and baits is another book. Those flinging 150gms of lead these distances completely understand that casting when fishing is another reality.
Secondly. It is an opportunity for those who would like to improve their distances so that they can achieve a bigger range when fishing. I am the first to admit I thought I could cast a good distance until I accepted some guidence which saw my distance going from around 80m out to 120 with rig and bait, 178m in competition.
Of interest, I haven't met anyone who has walked off the beach believing they cast two hundred meters and backed it up on a course. I welcome anyone to attend our events. Those involved are all happy to help with improving your abilities.
