    Hi Fella's

I used to own and live in one of the houses in the google pic.

I used to set a rig net in the bay at low tide, leave it out over night and bingo. Normally about 8 lemons first set Bloody big ones too. Daytime sets would produce one or two. Also got some big greyboys and ellies at times. I was reading an old history book which mentioned the Stage Coach used to travel along the beach to get to Charleston (an old gold mining town) and as the coach went past Penguin Bay( Now Lemon Bay lol) The passengers would be assailed by the smell of drying dogfish which the local maori had caught.

So one night I set an old snapper net I had. Well the net got ruined, but I got 10 lemons. Then got a decent rig net.

Never punished the place, enuf for the freezer and that was it. The lemons travel along the beach then turn at the end to go who knows where.

So headed out today to check the place out. It is very protected with a northerly as the wind was today. Had a fish of the rocks out onto sand. But nothing. Mind you wrong bait, was using mullet again. Actually caught a lemon here on Squid one day, but only ever the one.

Well watch out lemons, crab or prawn, at night, take your pic. I'm baaaack. And this time I am playing a bit fairer, no net, just me and you.

    Cheers Trev
