Good hard facts Mark, the only difference to me is a longline bait is put once through the top of the bait so it hangs from the bend of the hook. I use two hooks one tied with a grinner knot (similar to the uni) the second hook secured by two twists of trace around the shank. Half of the 24 one to 4.5 kilo snapper since the last day of winter I have landed have swallowed both hooks with aggressive takes the other half have been lip hooked on either the bottom or top "keeper" hook.
