    Hey Hardy...For english last year i had to do a reasearch assignment and did it on the depletiion of oceanic species around new zealand mainly paua though.when talking to MAF they said that for all the thousands of KMs of coastline there is only something like 60 fisheries officers throughout the whole of NZ but they have to operate in pairs so that goes down to 30 (theyve got there work cut out). I rekon they need too start throwing the book at poachers and stop throwing out pathetic finds and what not.however thats a little off subject but i agree with you fully hardy thats is why at times fish are becoming harder to catch isnt it i personally think that the way our fishing resources are been managed is poor but what i also cant stand is when the when people start blaming the recreational fisherman for the lower fish stocks (BULLSHIT!) by all means the comercial fisherman needs to make a living but i am sure it could be managed alot beter dont you? with lower fish stocks than say 20 years ago is that why we now need bling etc and long distance rigs or is that perhaps just an advencement in technology as well?
