The only other English person I met in the US was a fat slots manager in Connecticut.

Non-Americans and British people in particular are often under the impression that the US is full of English people. Totally wrong. Even people of English descent is wrong. German is the most common ancestry group, then Irish, then English. I can say with pride that I have no English ancestors. And this true for loads and loads of Americans.

The place where English ancestry is greatest is in the South and we can see the result of that.

You know, my flat is a dump and I'm out of here as soon as possible but it's still nice to be out of London. I can hear the guy in the flat next to mine ####ing his theatrical girlfriend and sneezing and whatnot but it's still better than listening to some dumb monkey psychologically abusing his wife and child all day and night.

And getting groceries...what a joy. I might walk past five people on the journey. In London, same distance, it was a mob. Everywhere with the crowds. Even in shitty Croydon at 11.00 am on a weekday.

And taking the train. Man. No pushing to get on and you're greeted by an almost empty carriage. No standing. You don't even have to sit next to someone. The entire four person seating thing around a little table is all yours. It's glorious.

The lack of minorities is awesome too. I know that there are Muslims here because I've seen them but I couldn't name specific examples. They're rare. Certainly compared to London. Black folk too. And South Asians aren't a problematic people at least in public but I've never seen ANY in Glasgow outside of takeaway owners. Not many East Asians either but that's alright. They were shit dates anyway.

And everyone I've met in public has been friendly. They seem like good albeit incomprehensible people.

And just think about it. How many Americans have lived in Scotland? I don't mean for university for a year or two and then they kick you out but I mean lived, worked, had indefinite leave to remain. This is a rare opportunity.

20 year high school reunion coming up. What percent of those people will be able to walk to the reunion? Never left the state nevermind the country. Doing a shit job. Getting ####ed in the ass every night. It's not the life for me.
