In my last year of high school, a guy who had tried to be my friend for two years suggested we do an underground newspaper like two months before graduation. I declined for the same reason I declined all his attempts at friendship: I'm really withdrawn.

But had I gone with it, it could have been awesome. One last little prank/event. It would have been something to talk about at a 20 year reunion. "Remember that paper we wrote that just insulted a bunch of classmates we didn't like? That was awesome."

It also would have been quaint in retrospect. An underground newspaper? Nobody does that anymore what with the internet.

Speaking of which, I think internet soon. I hope so anyway. When I plug the router in the broadband no longer just flashes. It stays on. But the internet light is red so not connected. So I hope that the wheels are in motion.

I can find out what that guy from high school is up to. Last I checked he was working in a Whole Foods distribution warehouse and possibly still living with his parents. We can still do the newspaper, I guess. A digital version. Then send it anonymously to all the classmates we can find.
