Who are these people engrossed in Come Dine with Me or whatever? It's crazy. There is no program that I want to watch. Whenever the tv was on (which was all the time) it merely served as background noise to what I was doing (using the internet or playing video games).
I've found that I don't need the background noise. There's no great revelation. I'm not any more productive now. But I just don't need it.
I was also searching for stuff about people who went back to the US after living abroad for an extended time. There was some Jesus nut who posted something that was absolutely bizarre. So that was of no help to me.
Then there's just boring ass "there are some food items that I miss" or "I wish I would have done this tourist thing".
I didn't experience any of that since moving from London. I mean, there's tourist shit that I didn't do there but I did a lot of it. There's nothing that I can think of that I wish I would have done. Oh, I never went to Parliament. It's crazy. Who gives a shit? I don't want to do that.
It's not even that I did a lot. I hardly packed my days with activities. But I did a reasonable amount. I mean, I went out. I did shit. Saw the city. Whatever.
Is there anything I wish I would have done while I was in the US? Again, no. So I don't see how this is a problem. Other people must live with an enormous amount of regret.
And food? Who cares about this? Maybe fat people. No, there's no food in the UK that I would miss. I can't even think of plausible examples. Crumpets? Those are okay but I haven't had one of those in probably five years. If they were so amazing, I'd be eating them.
Jaffa Cakes? No, they're shit. They're edible but I don't look forward to eating them.
Pizza Express? No, again, the food isn't good. I haven't been to a Pizza Exxpress in probably eight years. So I wouldn't miss it.
Everything else that I eat is available in the US and better. So do I miss any US foods? No. Who cares if there aren't any White Castles here? They have different shit. Broaden your culinary horizons.
It's just petty bullshit. There are genuine concerns about going back to the US and these dumbasses are focusing on tourist activity and food.
What about healthcare? What about having to get a car? What about tax shit? What about all the shit that's changed since you left? I don't know how to get a mobile phone in the US. Or internet. What about all the tv you missed? I won't get all of the cultural references. What about sounding like a gay man after living in England for so long? What about pensions? I don't know. There have to be loads of issues beyond, "Boy, I could sure go for a crumpet about now".
I mean, it can all be done. All of this shit can be overcome. But I just would have liked to see somebody address these issues.
