It's just not the way it's supposed to be. And once you realise that, you see what a terrible family you had.
It's not easy to raise children and foster a loving home environment. It takes work. My mother had absolutely no interest. There were some good times with my father, some attempts by him to create positive childhood memories but not a whole lot. He worked a lot. So it's most vacation stuff.
I look at This is Yesterday - The Message Board as a family. I try to encourage people to lead a healthy and lifestyle, I try to inspire, I try to teach, I try to entertain. And if people aren't interested, if they just want to be negative and try to bring people down, that's on them. It doesn't stop me from trying to be productive.
I was looking for cheap places to buy a property and go into semi-retirement in far off locales like the Philippines. But then I got to thinking, "Why go way out there where there are cultural differences and visa problems and all kinds of obstacles when there are cheap properties right here in the UK?"
I was offered work in the Shetlands recently. Just a few days, of course. Not a permanent job. But let's check out what sort of home you could buy there for the budget-minded consumer.
Four bedroom detached house for £80,000. It's tiny but some sort of sea view.
I wonder if I can search for all of Scotland and filter by price. Indeed, I can. Awesome.
Two bedroom cottage on the island of Sanday for £45,000.
Hmm...none of this particularly excites me. I'd like to find a property in a village with few people in it and just relax, collecting benefits.
