On the subject of matches who are too far away, I ponied up for Tinder Gold. Twenty six pounds for this shit. For one month.
What happened was I kept getting "likes" but they would never show up in my queue. So I couldn't see who they were. It got to the point where I had 10 such hidden "likes".
I thought there was something wrong with my account. So when I paid for Gold, these matches were revealed. They were all thousands of miles away and almost certainly fake. That's why they weren't showing up in my queue: they were beyond the 100 mile search range.
This is borderline fraud on Tinder's part. I'm not saying that they created these fake profiles, although if they did then it's clear fraud. But to say that you have 10+ likes and then it turns out that they're all fake, that's a scam.
So I requested a refund first from Google Play and then from Tinder. Google Play immediately refunded the purchase (they automate the process, I guess using keywords) and later Tinder also said that they'd refund the money.
