Have a look at the article on the Auto Express website about tread depth. Watch the video (part 2) where you can visually see the difference in the cars stopping on 3mm tyres and 1.6mm tyres.....it will certainly open your eyes and those of your customers. I'm ordering two new ones for mine this week. The cars are stopping from 70mph on 3mm and 1.6mm. The point at which the car on 3mm stopped, when run on 1.6mm tyres its still doing 50mph and needs another 30+m to stop! The other point as already mentioned is tyre tread depth. Whilst a separate issue in itself, who else is going to check the tyres if cars are MOT every two years! How many times do you fail and a car on tyres and the owners say, oh yes, I thought they were getting low.....yet they never change them until they have to (i.e. car fails MOT test).
