not sure if this has been discussed before, but in Motortrader last week there was an article about Mazda announcing the end of paper service books and now all service records will be logged on line by the dealer, effectivley meaning, unless we get accsess, closing the door on us independents to continue a service history. Owners / buyers can access this on line to check history. at a price no doubt! so where does this leave us in relation to being about to continue a service history? Owners will be forced to go to the main dealer to ensure a service history for thier car .If this isnt a monopoly situation i dont know what is? I had heard BMW and mercedes are doing this too, no doudbt all will follow suit. The basic idea of a history on line for all to acssess is a good one, means buyers can check a car as they do now with hpi, BUT is it only the dealer who can out the history on? Any one know? if its only the main dealer we are stuffed. this could be the biggest threat to our service buisness yet.
