Hi All

Had a letter from British Gas to say that my electricity contract for another 12 months will be due from 1st April 2013, I do not have to do anything as it will automatically roll over with the same details

When I checked the new charges from next April, got a shock

Now 9.4 pence per unit, new rate 16.00
Daily charge now 24.16, new rate 39.00

Gave them a call and the lad said it's based on market prices they predict from 1st April 2013 (what a load of old pony)

Managed to get it down to 9.81 and 24.27 so quite happy

So word of warning if your renewal letter comes early, don't ignore it as your contract will roll over with inflated prices and you will be locked in for another year
