Well we went live today but actual testing proper doesn't start until October I think the guy said. We are part of the stage three roll out and running computerization in tandem with the old system at the moment. We started training at 8am this morning and finished around 12.00 noon after a test! I had forgot all about the test and it's a pass or fail. Fail and you can't test until you've re sat and passed the paper. It's multi choice and you get 30 min's to complete. Some of the questions are ambiguous and take a bit of thought. If you are the site manager there are more questions for you relating to admin etc. We all managed to pass after some worried looking faces including my own thank goodness.
He then had to activate our smart cards on the system...Lots of problems here and only two of us managed to get sorted, the other two are waiting information from HQ.
We've been using the system this afternoon and if it's a straight test with no problems it seems great. Haven't had a fail yet and I did have a problem when I in putted the wrong lambda reading and it didn't like the numbers being altered. So putting the gas numbers needs to be accurate before pressing the button to accept or it's spits the dummy out. That test was aborted as it was home time.
I'll try and keep people informed of any prob's we come across as I think there might be a few.
