Thanks for the replies. ECU was opened up and was clean on circuit boards even though a slight water stain was present on inside of casing. There is a mod mentioned somewhere maybe BBA site for converting 12V to 5V crank sensors on upgrade or was it the other way round. The garage concerned decided to send the ECU off for testing before trying a replacement . Will let you all know the outcome.
