    Hi Peter
I had to fix an identical car to yours, same fault.
It was lowered, skirted and had been ragged by a boy racer.
i used forte motor flush and changed oil and filter and emmissions dropped like a stone.
incidentally, i went all round the houses before i got there, disbelieving how fumes could
be drawn up past rings which they were.
disconnecting breather did not give desired effect.
now know it was an oil control ring problem due to poor servicing.
if i get similar symptons again i now always insist we do an oil and filter change first
    before proceeding any further.
Another tip that was suggested to me was to
leave half a cup full of motor flush down each
bore 24 hours to free rings up before flushing.this wont free hard
baked solid carbon up but worth a try.
    good luck!john sartain
