Ford Focus 1.6 zetec 2003 - Cat inefficiency Archived Message

    Hi all, merry christmas,
this vehicle is showing cat inefficient, checked lambda switching and both post and pre are switching, the pre seems to be 1.5 hertz at idle, is that normal, I thought that it should be 1 hertz as a max. Any way, is there a method I can use to run this vehicle very weak to try and get rid of the possible fuel contamination in the Cat. I think it is the constant cold starts and short journeys that has caused the problem. The emmissions are very good, apart from the HC being up at 150ppm, I have blocked off the PCV hose to eliminate that so I can only think contaminated cat from excess fuel during cold running. Any thoughts Ideas?
    Thanks in advance
    James
