Vauxhall Astra 1.8 16 valve ecotec 1999 - Non runner, fuel pump replaced Archived Message

    Hi all,
Bit of help needed. Car came from another garage,
The car was a non runner so the garage replaced the fuel pump. The car runs but it loses power dramatically when you accelerate. No fault codes.
The fuel pressure is 4 bar at idle, seems high compared to autodata which says 3.0 bar. The pressure pulsates between 3.5 and 4 quite frantically, is this normal??
I took vehicle for test drive wit gauge connected and the gauge drope to 0.5 bar when the car loses power.
    Any idea's?
    Thanks in advance
    James
