    Hello Brian. Yes you are quite right , the procedure for these replacement ECUs is that they have to be programmed and there are various software levels which the TECH2 / TIS system will choose when the VIN number and vehicle details are entered. Some Vauxhall replacement ECUs will not run the car at all until programmed. The dummy code in the ECU is presumably intended so that a car can be recovered without using a trailer and is not intended to permenantly run the vehicle and will make the MIL lamp flash until they have been programmed. Unfortunately you will now have to take the car to someone with TECH2 and have the vehicle programmed.When these ECUs are sent to us at ATP we retain all the vehicle data in the replacement ECU so programming is not neccesary.
