We had one with Exactly the same symptoms, I offered the customer an Engine flush and explained that it could help the problem, But could also make it worse. ( Which wouldn't have been a major blow as it had failed the MOT anyway.) and also it could be a complete waste of time and money. I Flushed it with 2 bottles of Forte engine flush, and put a bottle of fuel treatment in the Tank. It was Smoking Really bad whilst it had the flushes in, and took a while to settle down afterwards, But It was then good enough to get it through an MOT. ( The Tester also checked the emissions without letting it get overheated, but there was virtually no smoke from the car during the MOT and the emissions were spot on ) I advised the customer to run it for a few weeks and then have the oil changed again and hopefully it would stay Smoke Free. Whether it is still running ok several months after or not, I don't know, but it was 90% Better after the flush, So in some cases it does appear to work. H.T.H Tony.
