    It is also worth remembering that CVH engines are prone to hydralic tappet probs. This combined with a MAP based sensor could confuse the ECM.

    A "Forte" (or similar) treatment and an oil change may help (I tend to put "Zetec" oil in these unless they are burners. It works well!) when dealing with otherwise "undefinable" symptoms.
