It's even worse than that. Imagine if Corbyn becomes PM. The signal that would send throughout Europe. It would be, potentially, as important as the rise of Thactherism, but in reverse. This effect would only be amplified if it was happening with the UK still a part of the European structure. This might have moved a lot of things forward, like a more balanced approach to the Middle East and the rights of the Palestinians.
An important, leading country in Europe, adopting a different set of policies, would have really meant something in the European context. The UK as a beacon of hope instead of a beacon of reaction.
So, for socialist, the 'real ones' to argue that Brexit is a good thing, is, absurd, given the dynamics and realities of the world we live in. It's the opposite in fact, a retreat from the real challenges we face and an embracing of nostalgia for country that isn't coming back, regardless of Brexit.
