In a way the UK should be the ultimate European state, which in many ways it still is. It's model for Europe. Four nations, or peoples, living together for mutual benifit and without war. There were only ever two nations btw. Wales was conquered and violently annexed into England and Ireland was a piecemeal English colony. Why you think English expansionism: which is effectively what you are talking about was a good idea is beyond me. I suppose its much on a par with the Empire historian outlook to go on endlessly with all that flannel about Rome bringing "civilisation" when the hard fact was that what it brought to most people was mass murder, grand theft and mass slavery. Many Scottish Irish and Welsh people have a very different historical view of the supposed benevolence of such "mutual benefits" as you sell, which is of course why you misunderstand Sinn Fein completely.
