i tend to agree,, Ed and Brooks. In the internet era and the era of global RT TV, if you're any kind of reader or curious person, naivete is impossible. When you're an educated journalist, trained to engage with text, you can't claim refuge inside a unicorn-coloured bubble. Also, as salaried journalists, surely the whole raison d'etre and job description means that they're equipped to read a broad range of differing views and to crunch large tracts of information? They know or should know. If they don't know (naivete), they're charlatans. If they choose not to know, then there's a moral problem and/or they are guilty of dereliction. After the fall of apartheid in South Africa, members of the media stepped forward to share their stories at the Truth & Reconciliation Committee, overseen by Archbishop Desmond Tutu. What an eye-opener that proved to be. Certain 'journalists' from the ostensible 'anti-apartheid' newspapers - turned out to be something else altogether. A few were finally identified, to some amusement and some horror.
