I agree with PCR 'recalling the old adage: “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.”' He's right. It's definitely incumbent on individuals to shake themselves out of the mire of the propaganda machine that is all around us, but that also requires the help of others.
If you look at the purpose of that article, I would imagine it's to help enable more people to spot the abuses of power. Something the likes of us lifeboaters could show to a normal and say "look, this is how the US has manipulated causus belli for wars in the past" and they can read it and say "hey, maybe I have been manipulated into this all this shit and shame on the people who have done it."
I think she's done a good job of that. Rather than just falling into the biggest trap of left-liberal stupidity: telling someone they should be ashamed of themselves because they aren't sufficiently "woke" to whatever version of reality that said liberal is espousing. At which point they say "so who do I take seriously, the person out on a limb who is insulting me or the large, safe, approved of institutions with the unified message?"
Johnstone generally has a good positive message that invites everyone to engage sincerely with what she's saying. Catching more flies with honey than vinegar, etc..
