Any information you've read here on Lifeboat News posted by me on Assange's situation comes from my reading of various Twitter accounts. If any here value the snippets I post here, know that much of this info is gleaned from social media. So if all these Twitter accounts are closed down, news of Assange really will dry up and he will rot in silence ... as mainstream media is not covering his case at all. So who would it most suit to have everyone abandon Twitter and other instant communication platforms? Many significant thinkers have a presence (and followings) on Twitter - from Chris Hedges, to Pepe Escobar, Media Lens, UN Rapporteurs, community writers, academics, etc, etc. Bernard of Moon Of Alabama has recounted how he checks his social media feed every morning to bring him up-to-speed on global news, as one important part of the resource for his excellent analyses. It's for these reasons that - however much I loathe aspects of Twitter and FB - I can't advocate withdrawing and abandoning the platforms to Donald Trump, George Monbiot, Christiane Amanpour and Kim Kardashian.
