Found a pic, illustrating what I'm thinking of: http://www.arcticphoto.co.uk/mobile/pix/RY/14/RY.2207-07_P.JPG Even with evergreens in the snow, they tend to catch and hold snow in the winter making them from above pretty white. I doubt the overall effect of trees in boreal regions could have a net negative effect, which I think is the point the article was making. Planting trees where they were till we removed them with modern industrial method is a good start. As Mack suggested, healthy grasslands shouldn't be excluded from this drive either, but they have to be healthy and we need to ditch npk.
