time, along with other numerate realists: There is no known source of energy actually to hand, rather than in sci-fi illusions, which can maintain the current huge splurge. So - it's not going to continue. And therefore, neither is hitech industrial 'civilisation', which is absolutely dependent on this level of splurge to exist at all. We can shove our denial output right up to warp factor 12, but it won't do a blind bit of good: the startrek world is simply not there in the future. Trilithium crystal shortage...
