Sympathies John. I am older than you and you are not alone in your thoughts and conclusions. I think of my father who fought against fascism (and survived unlike millions of others). It seems to me that we (and I mean the collective populations) have not learnt any lessons. PS My brother is a doctor (now retired and living in Devon) and some many years back, did an exchange with a doctor in Christchurch. Both families exchanged jobs and houses for six months as far as I remember. Nil Desperandum was my school motto! My brother's was Dum Spiro, Spero! My late husband's (he came from Yorkshire so excuse the ironic crudity) was Trust in the Lord and Keep Your Bowels Open. |
