If everyone gets out alive and unharmed, it will be due to the actions of people who do not panic, think quickly and intelligently, and act swiftly and decisively. OK, so acting with haste can be important. Given the alarming rise in CO2 emissions, one might think we should act swiftly and decisively in the present climate change crisis also. The question is, how is it to come about? If people, acting with faith, honour and dignity, have chucked out their phones, facebook, TVs and a whole host of similar things, still continue to drive cars/ fly planes, heat their homes, use air-con, eat products with big CO2 & methane emissions like meat etc., it's all no use. We'll continue to hurtle to the end of (human) civilization -- with dignity of course. As for my second question, I'm asking what specific catastrophe do you foresee that will be speeded up by Greta. You mention things from the past; which by the way, weren't all bad -- banning CFCs for example -- this happened thanks to the alarm bells ringing due (in part) to activists. The ozone hole is far smaller now. "War and militarization" -- this is of course not what Greta is calling for. That her words, or anyone else's words -- even yours! -- could be twisted and used to start wars would be nothing new. You don't even need a real person; any bit of fake news or false flag will do. Look how Iraq, Libya and Syria have all been attacked. So I don't see her contribution adding to this.
