A couple of Sundays a month Miriam gets to play the organ at our local Congregational church for their morning service and I go along out of solidarity. Most of the congregation are our age (70/66) or older; the preacher, filling in for the regular man this last Sunday, also.
He invited the people to consider that the library of books called the Bible is written by people with a variety of motives and that God may well be speaking to us now through, for instance, a Swedish teenager. He mentioned the Mont Blanc glacier and invited us to pray for all who are imprisoned in comfort and entitlement.
Our days are numbered of course but we continue to live in hope.
Oddly enough, I always find it much easier to be hopeful in Autumn than in Spring - maybe some weird syndrome has you in its grip and the season is to blame. Never forget too, you are down under
All the best.
