I think you've misread Fisk's last sentence. You can't read the article and then ignore everything in it to take the last sentence in isolation. The entire article is written on the basis of Fisk perfectly well understanding the US's misbegotten role from the start. The last sentence is just a throwaway comment, although I agree, it doesn't seem to make much sense in regard to everything else he's written in the same article. I mean even the title gives it away, surely? And I find the constant and insultingly patronising criticism in this forum of Fisk very tiresome. He knows more about the Middle East than all the contributors to this site put together, and then some..... |
