Q Is all cladding dangerous? How many schools and hospitals have it, some of them PFI projects. Despite what Assistant Chief Fire Officer Dave Keelan said, and after I had a look at the fire-spread in motion vid, one could start asking the correct questions. Keelan might be technically correct, which may be obfuscating the fact that although this cladding is different from Grenfell it still may not comply with older Building Regulations. We probably need to wait and see the exact specifications and testing of this cladding first. The historically older cladding on steel framed buildings was simpler and less suspect to these problems. New materials are being introduced to simplify the construction (read save money) and there must be a crossing line where the Building Regulations were loosened and the new materials flooded the market. I am not an expert on the latest, but am looking at it from my expertise 30 odd years ago.
