Allow to interpret: "I tried to let him know [but didn't] that he was being a pain [I didn't agree with him and wanted him to boil his head] on a few occasions while he was here, but aversion to conflict [self-doubt] meant this was expressed 'politely' and coolly [with passive aggression / hypocrisy] after my anger had been swallowed & digested [further distilled and internalised]... Of course conflict's not for everyone, and often gets messy. Other options might be: use the sword of reason and shield of compassion, as it were; ignore; keep perspective: a mental fight is not as bloody as fist fight. I think the Asian kinda way is: avoid it at mosts costs; if you can't let it be messy. The more Christian tradition is to engage, which is admittedly a path strewn with traps. BTW I meant "poisoned dagger". Anyway go well. If you like R. Bly, check out Martin Prechtel and his trilogy from "Secrets of the talking jaguar". Though I'm off the "become as far-away indigenous" tip these days.
