We are being softened up for official arguments to let this thing sweep through the population which has always been effectively the governments position. 1% of then population is 500,000 people. Letting the elderly and disabled die for economic benefit is eugenics. I think this can also be seen from the laissez faire to lockdown change perhaps. Feigning being caught off guard by the epidemiological considerations and then the "robust, responsible response" it could be argued, allowed for a threshold significant number of unmapped infections which effectively sealed the herd immunity strat while appearing to be a recalibration into effective policy. There are other examples of behaviour that support this idea too. La kuenssssberg also is nudging toward return to normal in terms of hinting at removing long term support of presently laid off workers and self employed. ( That's not including the sometimes disingenuous small print of govt support)
