"It doesn't remove the desire to use brute force and violence as a form of expression." That's the real take-home message for me. Violence has worse outcomes when lethal weapons are available (which puts the spotlight mainly on the US), but the violence itself is widespread. As is the associated coercion. Much of this stems from the way women are viewed in society. This takes it out of the arena of the isolated, terrible mass killing into our daily lives; to our culture, interactions and history.
