Mikovits is a discredited scientist who falsified data to create the results she wanted in a study about the cause of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in 2009.
She wanted something to be true, so she manipulated the study to "prove" that it was. Her paper was retracted when many other scientists were unable to replicate her results, and though she stated that she would continue her research and prove that she was correct, she hasn't. https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2011/10/chronic-fatigue-syndrome-researcher-fired-amidst-new-controversy Judy claims in the video that she was held in jail and charged with "nothing". That's a lie. She was She was charged with with illegally taking computer data and related property from her former employer, WPI (Whittemore Peterson Institute for Neuro-Immune Disease).
A research assistant signed an affidavit stating that he took items from the lab at her request. The criminal case was dropped after a conflict of interest involving the Whittemores and their own corruption (They were charged with illegal campaign contributions). Judy later returned some of the materials, and fully admits in interviews that she took it, though she says it was for patient protection.
But again, that is NOT the story she's telling in this video. Also, Judy claims she "couldn't get a lawyer". She had a lawyer. Scott Freeman was the lawyer in the criminal case, and Dennis Jones was her lawyer in the civil case. https://www.the-scientist.com/the-nutshell/chronic-fatigue-case-dropped-40868 https://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/07/health/fallout-from-fatigue-syndrome-retraction-is-far-and-wide.html https://www.chicagotribune.com/nation-world/ct-xpm-2011-11-22-ct-nw-chronic-fatigue-scientist-arrest-20111122-story.html?fbclid=IwAR1Dl32zH-YtCKyHpmpKcQXaJlESDGnwVgNFvSsJrZ41B-2S_gKTj06Uxps
Judy also claimed that she was threatened and placed under a gag order for 5 years- that if she said anything at all, "they" would "find new evidence." And yet Judy published a book all about her experiences 3 years to the day after she was arrested. The book shown in the video is the second book, the first one was published on November 18, 2014.
Judy claims that she has "no constitutional freedoms or rights". What does that even mean? She had the right to a trial, before which her charges were dropped, and she clearly has the right to free speech, which she is exercising. So its unclear which freedoms and rights she's talking about here. I can find no evidence to confirm or deny Judy's story about Dr. Fauci and the HIV paper. What I do have is a whole lot of evidence that Judy Mikovits has lied about countless things, not only in this interview, but in her career. Now about the Bayh Dole Act- Before this act was passed, there were reportedly 30,000 technologies sitting idle with no plans for development.
This act allowed private institution such as universities and small businesses to utilize technology transfer to turn scientific discoveries into products or services. This produces jobs and companies and helps the economy. Yes, it means that institutions can make money off of federally funded discoveries. However, those funding institutions can also use those discoveries free of charge. https://autm.net/about-tech-transfer/advocacy/legislation/bayh-dole-act.
There is NO EVIDENCE to show that this virus "could not be naturally occuring". Let me be clear, we do not know yet where this virus came from. I'm not saying that I know, because I don't. But saying that it had to be created in a lab is a lie. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/why-scientists-think-the-novel-coronavirus-developed-naturally-not-in-a-chinese-lab/
What evidence does this woman have to make her "sure" that the virus was created in conjunction with US and Wuhan laboratories? The grant that the NIH gave to the lab in Wuhan? Well actually, the NIH gave a grant to EcoHealth Alliance, which invests in global health research. This money supported research and many papers published about SARS viruses over the last 6 years. https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2020/may/01/rudy-giuliani/rudy-giuliani-wrong-about-us-policy-grant-amount-w/ There's also a section that talks about "skewing" the numbers and pressuring doctors to record deaths as Covid-19 when they are not confirmed cases. Well lets just take a look at these charts, which show the amount of deaths from ALL causes. These charts show places where deaths from all causes are far higher than the averages of past years. This would show that in some places there are higher Covid death tolls than what is actually being reported. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/05/05/us/coronavirus-death-toll-us.html Judy also claims that hospitals are being "paid" $13,000 by Medicare for each Covid patient.
A spokesperson for CMS told (Snopes) that whether hospitals are paid by Medicare for care of a COVID-19 patient would depend on whether that patient was covered by Medicare insurance. CMS also told us there is no set or predetermined amount paid to hospitals for diagnosing and treating COVID-19 patients, and the amounts would depend on a variety of factors driven by the needs of each patient.
Pay-outs would also depend on the variance of the costs of medical care in different regions. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/medicare-hospitals-covid-patients/ Hydroxychloroquine... are we still talking about this? https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamanetworkopen/fullarticle/2765499 - Findings In this phase IIb randomized clinical trial of 81 patients with COVID-19, an unplanned interim analysis recommended by an independent data safety and monitoring board found that a higher dosage of chloroquine diphosphate for 10 days was associated with more toxic effects and lethality, particularly affecting QTc interval prolongation.
The limited sample size did not allow the study to show any benefit overall regarding treatment efficacy. https://abc7ny.com/coronavirus-new-york-ny-cases-in-news/6126726/? - Those who took hydroxychloroquine, with or without the antibiotic azithromycin, were no more likely to survive their infections than those who did not, according to David Holtgrave, dean of the University at Albany School of Public Health, who conducted the study. https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.04.16.20065920v2?fbclid=IwAR1flyKhyb4AJmcNX9w6_exC61rSlAIMH0gcH9PBgPHooPDBm7seykzZjS4 -
In this study, we found no evidence that use of hydroxychloroquine, either with or without azithromycin, reduced the risk of mechanical ventilation in patients hospitalized with Covid-19. An association of increased overall mortality was identified in patients treated with hydroxychloroquine alone. This is a very valid treatment for SOME conditions. Saying that we should go ahead and treat everyone, even though it hasn't been tested for this virus, is not the way science and medicine works. Suramin and autism- Judy is implying that there is a valid treatment for autism out there that is being blocked. This is false. There has been a small clinical trial that was shown to be successful, and a larger clinical trial is currently in the works. If it works, that's great. It typically takes years for a drug to go from the trial phase to being approved for for treatment by the FDA, in order to verify that it's safe for long-term treatment. https://leader.pubs.asha.org/doi/10.1044/leader.NIB2.23122018.14
9"Dissenting voices" is not the same as propaganda and false information. Please research the things you watch. I understand that people don't trust institutions. But the woman who is doing most of the talking in this video is not a trustworthy source. I would like to add, since people are sharing this, that there are much more eloquent responses than mine, from actual experts in the field. David Gorski, MD, PhD, FACS is a surgical oncologist at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute specializing in breast cancer surgery, where he also serves as the Medical Director of the Alexander J. Walt Comprehensive Breast Center, Professor of Surgery and Oncology at the Wayne State University School of Medicine, and faculty of the Graduate Program in Cancer Biology. His response is great. https://tinyurl.com/y9uo53dc. Or for a response that really gets into the medical side, this one from Jennifer Kasten, MD, MSc- she's a pathologist with degrees in infectious disease epidemiology, mathematical modeling of epidemics, and fieldwork in epidemic control. https://www.facebook.com/100553591597588/posts/133429318310015/?d=n
