Its not really about fathers, but it is about a real virus.
If you don't think Dan's posting on the virus has been honest or sincere, or that he is not a doctor or whatever, your opinion is not for me to police or judge, but if you think this site is fake to that extent, why are you here as a long-term poster? or if you simply think that Dan can't see a truth that you can see, can you not just cordially agree to disagree and move on on this particular topic?
It seems to me that you are making him choose between his professional life and the political community he feels passionate about, and all he is doing to posters who persist in this disinformation campaign is reflecting that back on them: He is making them make an equivalent choice - between the apparent mission to keep pushing a specific point of view, (one that has been rationally perceived to have damaging consequences) and the politically community they feel a part of. If you can't see that, then you should work on your empathy, I would respectfully submit. Why not just let this particular topic go? We really do all know what you think, I can honestly say, and the material that has led to your point of view.
I don't look up to Dan as a kind of a fuhrer, but I do genuinely think the medical community, and by extension the community at large is a better place for having someone like Dan in it, and that is my view not out of sycophancy, but because I have seen enough people who are NOT like Dan, and so it seems a rarity, and I don't have any desire to play god with that.
