    Surprising amount of space given to protesters to explain their action. But then they are referred to as a 'mob' in the headline. And they've got to get in the obligatory anonymous twitter user accusing the protesters of being benefit scroungers:

    'Agree with saving the climate...but you need public support to get the government to care. Blocking roads just annoys folk and loses you the good will from the public (especially the working ones whose taxes pay your benefits).'

    Police have begun hauling away Extinction Rebellion protesters and arrested more than a dozen of them after the group blocked roads leading to more than a dozen Amazon fulfilment centres - causing chaos for Black Friday shoppers.

    Pictures showed officers beckoning an activist down from a bamboo tower outside a site in Tilbury, Essex, while others scaled a van to remove protesters from the roof.

    Essex Police was at the scene by 6am, but by 1pm the demonstrators had still not been moved. The force said it was a 'complex operation' that 'required specialist equipment,' adding that it could still 'take some time' to clear the road.

    The series of coordinated blockades - timed to coincide with Amazon's busiest day of the year - started at 4am with about 20 activists gathering outside Amazon's distribution centre in Dunfermline.

    In Dartford - one of 13 sites targeted - protesters held a sign saying 'Black Friday exploits people and planet', while in Peterborough the slogan was 'infinite growth harms planet'. Other sites that have been blocked include ones in Doncaster, Darlington, Newcastle, Derby, Coventry, Rugeley, Bristol, Tilbury and Milton Keynes.

    At least 13 people have been arrested in three of the locations, police forces have confirmed.

    Had a look at the comments and nearly all had some kind of incitement to murder alongside the usual 'lock them up' or 'make them pay for lost earnings', eg:

    If demonstrations cost companies or people money. There should be a legal comeback off the protesters I was delighted when the insulation 9 were given a few months in prison. There should be a lot more if it.

    I'm neither a customer or a fan of Amazon but they are a legitimate company trading legitimately so they should sue these troublemakers for loss of earnings.

    Troublemakers - plain and simple. 'Simple' being the operative word. Treat them exactly the same as the 'Insulate' idiots. A short spell in jail may help them refelct on the complete idiocy of ruining people's Christmas shopping.
