Whilst the right has, for decades, aimed to manipulate the democratic process, especially at election time, the left appears woefully naive about the character of 'liberal democracy' to a remarkable degree. For example, in the late 60's the right in the US were actively devloping strategies and an intellectual framework about how one manufactured correct election results, the left did nothing. I remembering hearing a rightwing election strategist who'd advised Nixon and the Republican Party and then also consulted for Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagun, openly saying that elections and voters were affected by their hearts more than their heads, therefore on had to appeal to their emotions. I don't remember ever hearing somone on the left say that. The left, for example, Corbyn, appear incredibly naive and ignorant when it comes to elections and liberal democracy, both strategically and intellectually. The right have theories about how to win elections, like Carl Rove, known as Bush's Brain; the left have... nothing. Why is that? Why, compared to the right, are the left so bereft of ideas about elections, and so ineffectual and incompetent? Of course Blair and New Labour were different and successful, but that was only because they adopted and adapted ideas and methods from the US right, and they, New Labour, were hardly on the left. Why, are the left/liberals linked to Labour so delusional about 'democracy' compared to the Tories. The left seem to actually believe their own rhetoric, something Thatcher never did.
