Talk about blatant:

Faiza Shaheen, Labour’s Candidate in Chingford and Woodford Green at the 2019 general election - who had been re-selected as the candidate by local party members for the upcoming election - saw her endorsement rescinded by Labour.
Earlier this week it was reported that the Jewish Labour Movement had raised concerns over Shaheen’s suitability as the candidate over her anti-Israel social media activity.

The party confirmed her replacement would be Shama Tatler, a Councillor in the London Borough of Brent and member of the Jewish Labour Movement

Two more JLM ers:

Camden Council leader Georgia Gould, who is Jewish , was unveiled as the Labour candidate for the newly created seat of Queen’s Park and Maida Vale.

Josh Simons, director of pro-Starmer think-tank Labour Together and also Jewish, will stand in Makerfield in the north west of England.

Of course, Simons shared a platform with Mad Mel at a JC event.

Sorry, I must disagree based on the historical record.

I joined the Labour Party when Michael Foot was still leader in 1983. Foot became Leader in 1980 in a tight race and was known for being opposed to the Atlantic Alliance and the EEC, which upset many and ultimately resulted in the Limehouse Declaration of January 81 and the formation of the SDP - so, one faction split from the Party, which was still dominated by the Trades Unions.

Remember, 1980-1983 was peak Benn and his push to democratise the Party. Further, and despite the formation of the SDP, Foot was ahead in the Polls - it was the Falkland's War that saved Thatcher's bacon.

The 1983 GE Manifesto from Foot was radical for the Party following the Callaghan years with a commitment to leave the EEC and pulling the UK out of NATO, never mind numerous domestic policies favourable to the Unions and workers.

We know Foot was detested, on NATO he was intractable and his EEC policy was not popular with the establishment. Indeed, its now known the SDP received considerable funds from the CIA via numerous fronts in the UK - a genuine case of US interference.

So, Foot wanted to reverse Callaghan & Healey's embrace of monetarism in 1976, that's before all of Benn's machinations - obviously, Foot lost in 83 on a Manifesto Hattersley claimed was the longest suicide note in history.

Of course, once Foot resigned and Kinnock took the Leadership the Party began its purge of the Bennites and other Leftist groups freely operating within the Party, among them Militant.

I agree it was the CIA plant Kinnock who destroyed the Party as a genuine Left alternative, but hope existed within the Party until the Miners Strike, which Kinnock failed to support - one reason he's detested in South East Wales among Miners families.

As with Corbyn, a small interlude existed before the Party began its move to the Right again under the hated Kinnock and his bright new faces, among them Blair and Browm.

The Foot interregnum was while in opposition. The Tory poll recovery began before the Falklands fiasco. It was because Foot had been elected (as far as Liarbour votes were worthy of the name) that the Gang of Four split the partei and guaranteed a Tory victory on a lower vote than 1979 (FPTP to the rescue). In 2019 the gang of lots of Bliarites and zionist antisemite proxies didn't need to leave to split the partei, they sabotaged it from inside, as they had during the 2017 "election" campaign.

Liarbour has always betrayed the working class, bridling it when thing are going well for workers and ignoring them when things are going bad.

Revisionism is fine, so, why did Thatcher manage to close Polls again with the Foot Labour Party somewhat before the Falkland's kicked off?

Well, and lets get real here. The SDP did rip away support from Foot, however, and as underscored, we had genuine CIA involvement in British Politics, and for all of us who lived through the monstering of Foot by the MSM, that's print, TV and radio, let us not forget there was no internet, that all in the UK got their information from the three sources I've mentioned and that the blitz against Foot was extreme.

Obviously reactionary forces remained within the Party after the SDP split, but unlike Corbyn, Foot desired to the lead the Party and was competent in handling his enemy within, i.e., Foot was not destroyed by the Party machinery, like Corbyn, he was destroyed by the Media, the establishment and the UK's surprise success in the Falkland's, which Thatcher milked for all it was worth.

Its also must be noted, as the historical record shows, that the UK was actually close to losing the Falkland's war, and that if had not been for US support via Chile history may well be very different.

Someone told me once that the British people supported the Falklands War (Foot was against the Argentine Junta, remember) because 250,000 people saw off the armada from Plymouth Hoe but that was the year that 250,000 people circled Greenham Common so take your pick. Like it or not the (modest) Tory poll revival began before the Junta occupied the islands. Of course the defection of the Gang of Four divided the anti-Tory vote but then opinion polls since forever show that the British public favour what David Edgerton called the social-democratic state and society of the 1970s. That's why Liarbour has always colluded with the Tories to protect the state and undermine Liarbour's 'achievements'.

Thanks for the breath of fresh air, Chris. K264's claim about LP and left politics in general are getting more unhinged as we go. Thankfully, he agreed with your take ish (I think : /). Factual evidence against loud-mouthed slogans wins my vote any time. Presumably anarchic vote counting doesn't come into play within K264's sensorium, since he has the option of abstaining, so that doesn't count

Indeed, alas, and where Keith is correct, historically Labour has acted as an agent of the establishment and he's correct to call Corbyn a paltroon, i.e., you cannot compare Corbyn with Foot because one was an actual giant of the Labour Left whilst Corbyn acted like a lamb for the slaughter, that is, and despite being very weak in the Party, he never fought back.

There is just a possibility that 'Corbyn years' may have been mis-sold. Bear with me. The policies at the time were top-notch ish. As good as it gets etc as far as left is concerned. He was very popular with young gen of voters. He failed because he wasn't Joseph Stalin. Oopsie! Only kiddin'

To be frank the consequence of his failure to clean the Labour stable of manure was the rise of Starmer and his poisonous minions.
You might say the stable of shits was indeed Augean and Corbyn no Hercules, but Keith is right in this.

Not only did he fail to identify and deal with the enemies of social democracy in Labour, he actualy allowed them to run a witch hunt against his allies.

-It's hard to understand this as the actions of a leader with real conviction...but alas as I recall ( please check this) even the recently de-selected Faiza Shaheen had tweeted support of Chris Williamsons dismisal, which makes it hard to sympathise with her present plight.

The behaviour typifies what we see in Pastor Neimullers poem:

"First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out- Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out- Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out- Because I was not a Jew.

How can Diane Abbott go back and stand as a representative of this party of racist right-wing turds with a straight face?
Yet she does...and as I've said before, there's something weird in the left wing of Labour that makes them put party loyalty before principles: like Dennis Cannavan before them, they let themselves be humiliated repeatedly but apparently still don't get the message:

CommercialPrivateEquitybbc call her a left wing politician, yet she remains a member of a racist, fascist, antisemite anti-working class partei. Last night there was a documentary on CPEbbc 4 about Play for Today which was good in parts (the clips, some of which I remembered) but the stooge-over kept calling it 'left-liberal'....
