Ah, so now Jeremy Corbyn says we must not "concede ground"? After he allowed all of his strongest supporters to be sacrificed?

Jean-Luc Mélenchon, while being smeared by the entire French media and President Macron, purged Zionist MPs from his party due to their disloyalty and descriptions of Operation Al Aqsa Flood as 'terrorism'.

Jeremy Corbyn, faced with similar Zionist smears, capitulated so hard that he destroyed the entire movement built to secure his leadership, purging every single one of his allies from Parliament and his party. He still peddles Zionist both-sidesism, condemns the Resistance and promotes pacifism.

And now he has the gall to tell others "don't concede ground". The British Left is now infinitely worse off as a result of his betrayals.

A new anti-Zionist left is need to replace the historic mistakes.

It is true that it is futile to try to appease bad faith actors.

What the Corbyn 'moment' has unveiled is the true ugly face of the 'establishment'. It has revealed what we are up against. The lengths it is willing to go to and the depths it is willing to sink to to protect its perceived interests.

Obsessing over Corbyn's undoubted failures is a waste of energy.

You keep saying that about the Guardian in the 70s. Not my experience. It had very positive views about revolutionary movements brewing around the world at the time and described it fairly accurately. Perhaps you were not interested in the 'Third World' politics as I was.

Not sure where you got that one from. They analysed and you had good analysts or bad ones. It was also that their subject matter (Third World) which was very much on the left.

I was there. I just thought of pulling you up on that since it is likely you were too young to read the Guardian. It also bears no resemblance to Fraudian today. There were publication that were more to left, but these were 'counter-culture' and generally more on domestic politics.

Anyway, you had your say and I've had mine. No doubt you will consider it as your 'win'. Enjoy.

The Times was a far better paper, its foreign coverage was really rather good, which is why I could see the civil war in Sri Lanka coming two years before it began. The sale of The Times to the Australian led to its gutting, which was a great pity, I seem to remember that the Insight Team from the ST went first.

There was nothing to read until The Independent began (I had hope of The Correspondent but it was a flop). Every time The Independent was revamped it got worse.... but I've mentioned this before.

Easy one for the Times. I was in Sri Lanka in 1980, both in Sinhalese and Tamil lands, on an assignment. It was obvious trouble was brewing, especially in the Tamil enclaves. All the ordinary Tamils looked thoroughly pissed off. Times reporting this in 1981 .. sure. Not much of a rocket science.

I am getting really fed up with the repetitive nastiness displayed here to Jeremy Corbyn from some on this resource.. .

We instead should admire Corbyn's good and constant qualities and be a bit more forgiving of his failures, if failures they were, perhaps he was never made out to be a ruthless and unforgiving leader. Perhaps too he was subject to a good deal of very effective treachery on himself?

What I would say about the French election result, is, "what does it actually mean?" I think Jeremy is guilty of a bit of wishful thinking here as to the sturdiness of the left in France - it could all fall to pieces very quickly.

John, Corbyn kept apologizing for things that never happened, and he offered up his supporters to the people bent on destroying them and him. He never once stood up to them, said "You are lying" or "Please provide at least one item of evidence."

That's failure--the most catastrophic failure.

Well, it's not merely people here. If you read the thread on the David Miller site, there's quite a number of people who mostly reluctantly have to admit that Corbyn was at least partly responsible for the disaster of Starmer and the security state taking over the Labour party.

The lesson Corbnyn taught inadvertently was just how powerful the forces aligned against any kind of socialism in the UK are and underlined the utter necessity for absolute ruthlessness when dealing with them.

His "broad church inclusion" and "olive branches to enemies" approach just didn't work because these people aren't operating in good faith. Concessions don't lead to accommodation but to further pressure and more concessions until there's simply nothing left to conceed.

-It took little more than this standard " Broken Record" approach to destroy Corbyn.

Perhaps the above tweet was some kind of confession...but it's really not worth walking that road for a repeat performance if the chance ever occurs.
