Hi Fred the ideas that fisherpeople come up with never ceases to amaze me that idea of yours will work well on a steep slopping beach wher casting distance is not important but I have my doubts as to wether it would be practicable on an ordinary surf beach as you would'nt be able to cast far enough to get your bait out to where the fish are.About thirty odd years ago you could buy sinkers similar to that,it was shaped much like the tear drop and it had two short pieces of wire moulded in it where you fix your nylon they were about 2" long and stuck out about 1" either side.
