Hi Job I appreciate your annoyance but may point out that Mercedes has practiced this type of policy for years. If you required a new key for any of their vehicles you had to sent a photo copy of the V55 to the dealer then the new key was sent to the registered keeper of the vehicle. Conclusion - Volkswagen is going to be held up as an example of how they are combating car thieft with no thought of the poor mother that has had the keys of the Polo drooped down the loo and requires the car to do all the jobs busy mothers have to do. As a foot note I have been waiting to see what manufacturer brings up the Question of Intellectual Property Rights. is a kind of copyright for ideas ????. Iain
