Hi Peter The vehicle manufacturers may think they are side stepping the issue by saying that they only recognize "official" Independents that repair their mark as officially entitled to service/repair information But they should not underestimate the power of the Independent Garage. The RMI, MVRA, IMI etc rely on the subscriptions from Independents to keep them solvent (20,000 MOT stations alone) It is up to these motor trade bodies to lobby hard on our behalf for the right to technical information to be able to do our job. If the motor trade bodies do not deliver on this, then there will be a backlash, we will loose faith in the motor trade bodies, subscriptions will fall off, and the biggest looser will be the customer, who will have to pay higher costs for having their vehicle serviced, it may also turn the NEW car buyer towards a manufacturer that is more forthcoming with technical information and lower servicing costs. BMW, Audi, VW may loose out in the end, us British don't take to kindly to being held to ransom by foreign manufacturers Peter
