Re: Bartons Bakery
I was 14 when I worked for Bartons on a van. My mate Terry and I worked saturdays meeting dave the driver in a cafe in Aveley about 7 in the morning then delivering bread to all areas around Aveley, finishing about 4 in the afternoon. This was from 1968 to 1970 and I earned about 10 bob (more if we worked during school holidays plus free cakes and a loaf for my Mum. I enjoyed those days , had a good relationship with the customers (I still see one of the regulars today) -Even learnt to drive as we sometime were allowed to drive the van off road on some of the farms we delivered to.
