I have been playing around trying out designs for a tripod rod rest. I had two basic requirements, first it needs to handle two rods, second it needs to be height adjustable. This afternoon I gave the prototype a test run and I must say I am very pleased with the results. It still requires a couple of small modifications and then it will be on the money.

I had to smile: the fish were somewhat reticent but crabs were not. One rod registered a long pull down and stopped in the bent position, the silly bugger had hooked itself. Now this crab was by any standards a large model and he was possibly the most unfortunate crustacean to be beached. I usually throw the damn things back but my partner, being Chinese, had an entirely different ending in mind. Another steep learning curve for me, and I have to say it tasted delicious.
