One of the main advantages with this system is that you can do a proper Off-The-Ground cast. With other types that rely on line tension to hold the hook into the clip you invariably find it will release if the sinker touches the ground behind you as you cast.

That extra 3 or 4 feet of rod movement might make a difference in casting distance.
